Manzanita Skinner Knife |
Manzanita Skinner Knife @2009 Michael H. Mara This hunting / utility knife features a 5” upswept point convex ground 1095 blade, with hand rubbed finish. The spine was coated with refractory clay prior to heat treating, so the blade is differentially hardened to HRC 62 at the edge, while the spine is dead soft. This creates a superb blade that will take and hold an incredible edge, while still being flexible and tough. This differential hardening is an ancient technique and creates a visible temper line, known as a hamon. The knife is 9 1/4” overall. The hunter is full tang construction, with Manzanita Burl scales with a 1/2" finger groove and nickel silver pins. It has a finger hole at the end to enable you to drop it out of the way while working, and with a flip of the wrist, have it right back in your hand. A durable, tough, high performance knife. Includes a custom, handmade leather sheath with green Turquoise bead edging. $502. SOLD
