Forged Bubinga Scramasax Knife |
Forged Bubinga Scramasax Knife @2006 Michael H. Mara The scramasax or seax was carried by Vikings and Saxons, who took their name from them, from the 4th through the 10th centuries. It was used as an eating utensil and general tool, as well as a close quarters weapon. Due to the unique blade shape, they could pierce chain mail. They were worn crosswise in a horizontal belt sheath, carried either at the front or rear of the body. This Scramasax features an 8” dropped point, convex ground, hand forged 01 high carbon steel blade with a 3” false top edge. Hardened to HRC 62. The knife is 12 1/2” overall, with a Curly Bubinga handle and Damascus fittings. The sheath was custom made for the customer, with select Viking runes tooled into the face. $393 SOLD
